In August 2007 the American healthcare system was placed under discussion in a documentary by film maker Michael Moore. Sicko provided us with facts which were staggering: according to the film, 45 million citizens of all ages have no health insurance and a further 250 million people who are covered by medical insurance policies are victims of fraud and are denied adequate medical care. The documentary compares the American system to that in various European countries (Britain and France) and highlights their many benefits (too many according to some).
